    Took one star off for two surprises. May be I didn't read the specs in detail but this TV does not have built in Wifi, it requires the USB wifi adapter (so add another $80 to your price).I am also a little skeptical about the a/v and component video adapter cables. Signal cables from your a/v receiver does not attach directly to the TV, instead plug into this adapter cable. The included cable router may help ease some strain off the adapters but only time can tell of their reliability

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      Please explain 'wifi ready'. Specifically, I want to know what else I'd need to buy to actually connect the television to my LAN.

        A:

        The TV can connect with your wireless internet. It requires the Samsung ‘LinkStick’ to do so wirelessly. If you can run an internet cable to it from your router then you can plug it directly in and do not need the adapter for WiFi.

      is there a headphone jack on this tv for audio listening so that the speakers don't have to be on?

      Or, is it possible to hook up the audio input of my stereo set?

        A:

        The Samsung 40D6000 has an analog audio out so you would be able to connect to any available inputs on the back of your stereo. This model does not have a headphone output . You can turn the speakers off through the TV’s on screen menu.
